Jinglin Zhou (23)

Jinglin Zhou, a 23-year-old violist, is currently pursuing master degree of music on a full scholarship at the Juilliard School in New York, under the mentorship of Carol Rodland and Samuel Rhodes. Born in 2002 in Hunan, China, Jinglin began his musical journey at the age of 10 with violin before transitioning to viola. He earned his bachelor degree at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, where he studied under Nian Liu, Jensen Lam and Yucheng Shi.
His artistic development has been further enriched through participation in numerous prestigious music academies and festivals worldwide, including Seiji Ozawa Academy, Heifetz Institute, Schiermonnikoog Festival, 'Viva la Viola' Festival and Tambasasayama Viola Masterclass, where he learnt from world-renowned artists such as Nobuko Imai, Garth Knox, Tim Frederiksen, Atar Arad, Wenting Kang and Diyang Mei.
In 2023, he won the 1st place in viola division at the 5th Hong Kong International String Competition. His original cadenza for C.Stamitz Viola Concerto also won the first Cadenza Competition at SHCM, which was later published by the Shanghai Educational Press in 2022.
Jinglin has performed at prestigious venues including: Tokyo Bunka Kaikan, ROHM Theatre Kyoto, Aichi Prefectural Arts Theatre, Großer Musikvereinssaal Vienna, Alice Tully Hall, Shang-Yin Opera House and Changsha Concert Hall.
